Ever since I started talking about this blog, I’ve been getting tons of emails with great questions about some of the things I'm doing. Below is a list of the most common questions with answers. These are just a few so if you have a question that's not here feel free to email me at dann@dannsdiet.com

What kind of granola do you mainly use?

For the past four months, I’ve been eating mainly granola from Natures Path. Specifically the Peanut Butter Granola which is packed with protein, minerals and whole grains! Not to mention uber delicious. Another great flavor of their’s is the Hemp Plus and the Açaí Apple.

It’s a little pricey at around $4 a box but it’s well worth it. I’ve been able to find it at Whole Foods and most Safeways. My wife is starting to help make our own granola to save a little money.

Dude, how did you stop drinking coffee?

Great question. This was really hard for me to do since I was easily drinking 2-5 cups a day of black coffee for a few years now. I use to live/work above a Starbucks for 2 years also, haha so that didn’t help. My solution, for a week I went to decaf coffee. I bought the most expensive brand there was in stores (illy’s) and mentally started to note that I’m doing nothing but poisening my body and I’m not even benefiting from this caffiene which will crash in t-minus 30 minutes. Long story short, I started to “smell” the coffee. Did you know, some studies show that smelling coffee actually has more benefits that drinking it? Some studies even show that the addiction isn’t the drink, but the smell.

To help, I would brew a tiny cup and just put it under my nose for a few minutes until it cooled down. If I was headed out in the morning somewhere I’d just let the aroma fill my Jeep. You’ll be amazed at how well this works. I’ve yet to take a sip of coffee.

Why should I listen to you or try this diet?

Well, I’m not saying you should at all. This blog is just me telling you guys how I lost the weight and calmed my symptoms. So if you do try any of this, try it at your own risks. I’m not a doctor by any means even though my initials, DR.P, make me one by birth. I only know what worked for me. I also know that I searched high and low to find something to help my symptoms and it was just the same stuff over and over that didn’t help. I want to bring my new knowledge forward and hopefully give you guys something else to try. It worked for me.

But wait, you surf for exercise – we don’t have an ocean in Tennessee.

That’s why I moved to California, haha, just kidding. You don’t need to surf for your exercise, that’s just what I chose to do because going to the gym for me is a major bore. And running, well, I don’t know many people that enjoy running. Plus, it’s bad for your knees and especially if you are heavier. Just find something you love to do and that you enjoy. Otherwise you won’t keep it up long. I surf because I literally am passionate about it. Go for hikes, ride your bike, play with your dogs or kids. You’d be surprised how fun it can be to exercise.

Some days my exercise is walking up to Bernal Heights hill and throwing the ball around with my dog, Machado. Yes, even that’s considered exercise.
